Events in Greece:
*** August 5, 2000 -- Pilgrimmage day trip to Skoufomiti / Lygerea, Tseria and Dafni. Buses will leave from Varvitsa at 7:00 am for Skoufomiti. Arrive in Skoufomiti and tour some of the sites related to Zaharias, such as the church Panagitsa and the "Halasmata tou Zaharia" (beakfast will be served). After this, the buses will depart from Skoufomiti for the village of Tseria and tour the fort of "Zaharia" (the actual place where Kapetan Zaharias was assassinated), which is currently owned by Stavriano Katsirea. Food will be served at the village square. After this, the buses will leave for the village of Dafni, where there will be a visit to the fort of Merako hosted by the scholar Stavro Melonako. This fort is the site where the famous battle took place between Kapetan Zaharias and Merako, in which Zaharias was victorious. Cold beverages and coffee will be served. In the evening, buses will depart for Varvitsa.

Those who wish to travel by car and follow the buses may do so if desired, but must contact any of the above individuals so that accurate preparations are made as to the number of individuals planning to make this trip.
*** August 13, 2000 -- Memorial services will be held in the morning at St. Demetrios church in Varvitsa to commemorate Kapetan Zaharias. In the afternoon, there will be an open forum discussion (open to everyone) on isuue(s) regarding the "spirit of Kapetan Zaharia, today." This event will be held at the village square in Varvitsa.
*** August, 2000 -- Evening gathering filled with plenty of singing, dancing, drinking, and good times to be held at Agio Theodoro in Varvitsa (Meterizi). The exact date for this event will be announced very soon.
